FOUND HOUSE INTERFAITH HOUSING NETWORK PET SUPPORT PROGRAM AWARDED GREY MUZZLE GRANT TO HELP SENIOR DOGS
August 31, 2026, Cincinnati – The Grey Muzzle Organization has awarded a significant grant to the Found House Interfaith Housing Network (IHN) to strengthen local efforts to support vulnerable senior dogs in our community.
The Found House IHN Pet Support Program is one of the select group of animal welfare organizations chosen nationwide from a highly competitive applicant pool. This funding will expand access to critical veterinary care, dental services, and temporary housing support for at-risk senior dogs — animals that are often the most vulnerable in our shelter system.
The grant supports Found House IHN’s ongoing commitment to improving outcomes for senior dogs through reduced barriers to pet-friendly housing, temporary shelter, access to medical care, and compassionate care programs.
“This grant will help make sure that senior dogs get to stay with the owners that love them, even when those owners are facing housing insecurity and other crisis. Not only that, but while keeping them together, we can make sure seniors like Lulu have access to the veterinary, dental, and other care they need,” said Stacey Burge, President & CEO of Found House IHN. “The best outcome for both senior pets and their humans in need, is that they stay together. That needing help doesn’t mean beloved senior dogs are surrendered.”
This year’s Grey Muzzle grant cycle emphasizes the development and dissemination of best practices that can be adopted by shelters and rescues across the country, extending the impact of these investments to help far more senior dogs nationwide.
Over the past 18 years, The Grey Muzzle Organization has distributed more than $8.3 million in grants, building a national network dedicated to elevating senior dog welfare standards.
“We are thrilled to support programs that deliver immediate care while also establishing scalable best practices to strengthen senior dog initiatives nationwide,” said Emily Grossheider, Executive Director of The Grey Muzzle Organization. “Senior dogs are among the most vulnerable in our communities, yet they have tremendous capacity for love and companionship. Our grants help organizations like The Found House Interfaith Housing Network Pet Program provide the medical support, foster care, and adoption services needed to give these dogs a real second chance.”
Through this partnership, the Found House Interfaith Housing Network Pet Support Program will continue providing vulnerable senior dogs with the care, support, and second chances they deserve within our community.
